6 lessons from mama
I may forget most things I did when I was a child but I never forget what mama taught me. She had a unique way of making you remember her lessons whether you liked it or not. Thanks to these ways, I naturally know how I ought to behave and how not to. Here are some of the lessons;
- Mama taught me to respect people. People I like, those I don't like, those I meet everyday and even those I go years without seeing, it doesn't matter, respect them. She said, if you can't respect them in your own privacy, force yourself to respect them in public.
- She taught me never to despise anyone. Especially the people who might not appear respectable by whichever virtue. 'Treat people equally despite their status', mama always says. If you can't bring yourself to relate with them like you relate with others at least do not despise them.
- Thanks to my mama I know I am my own responsibility. How I turn out to be is upon me. What I own, how I stay, how I behave, what I achieve, how I relate with people is all up to me.
- I was taught to treat people exactly how I expect them to treat me. People have feelings and they see and feel how you treat them, they hear what you say directly or through people somehow it gets to them. Through mama I know you can do a hundred lovely things to someone but that one, two or three harsh words or negative ways you relate to them lingers in their minds for a life time.
- Mum tells me,'you do not need to impress anyone to survive.' You only need to put God first, do things the right way, the ways that you are comfortable with and you are good to go. It is all about YOU, people around you will love you, others will hate you for no good reason and others don't care but all in all life goes on smoothly.
- Last but not least my dear mum taught me to be aggressive at what I do, go for what I want and what I am capable of achieving. If my dream car is someone's wheelbarrow so what? Better boast with the little I have than the much I only dream about. Do your staff like you are the best person that ever existed as long as you are not infringing on anyone's space.
