MY LIFE IN CAMPUS- CAMPUS LESSONS {PART 3/3}
11 years ago, I wanted to become an engineer when I grow up.
I did not know exactly what engineering entailed and how I would get there but
I knew for me to be one I had to study really hard. Well my dreams were and
still are valid. 11 years later as I finish my undergraduate studies I have a
very important lesson to take home from one of my lectures, Prof Kiema. He
said, it does not matter what you do, what matters is how you do it.
You can’t possibly go through an institution for all these
years and fail to pick up important lessons to last you a lifetime. My most
important life lessons were picked here, my best characters were shaped here as
well, be my guest;
- Campus taught me how to relate to people, those I like and those I don’t. It taught me I don’t have to like someone to respect them; respect is for all, friends and strangers.
- I learnt that anything that has a beginning always has an end. Just like finishing campus, all other aspects of life have beginnings and endings. When you go through a hard time always remember it shall come to an end. When you have a very good time, do not be carried away with it because the end to it and back to normal life shall come. In other words in all you do, do it with moderation and an open mind.
- While here I learnt that I can trust God for all that is above and below the sun. It’s ironic how my deep connection with Christ has happened right here in campus. I realized that indeed the relationship I have with God is for keeps and regardless of the ups and downs he really never leaves my side.
- I realized life is not always fair but it is good enough. We don’t choose whose hands we fall into in our daily lives but wherever we go things will work out.
- Life is what you want it to be like. This is applicable to the lifestyle you want to have, the character you want to acquire and how you want to see things. We as human beings have that privilege to make some/most of our life aspects how we want them to be.
- One of the most important lessons I take from this place is the fact that it is okay to fail; failure does not determine my destiny. In any case failure should motivate me to achieve more. I may fail in my exams, career, relationships, business goals etc. That is not the end of life and its struggles get up and keep going.
- Campus taught me how to make friends. I learnt that you make friends by being there for them otherwise what is friendship for? The reason most people come into our lives is so that they can be our friends. Make friends and be a friend but do not expect too much from everyone who becomes your friend. You see in life a good person always does their best but sometimes situations are not favorable and friends will fail us the same way we can fail them. Do good things and be a friend not because you expect the very same treatment from them but because you are being the best you can be for the people you love.
- I am coming out of the university a totally different person. I look at things differently from how I used to. Personality comes first; I do not judge people by their looks or what they have outwardly. Friendliness is never too much to ask for and whenever I have a chance to bless someone I take it as a privilege.
- Lastly, I realize I am as human as it can get. I will laugh, I will cry, I will love and hate, I will be motivated today and at my worst tomorrow, I may fail and yet again I may succeed but all that makes up life, I am me, a learner and a winner in my own way.
How do I feel? I am happy that I made it through one
important step of my life. I am excited about all that shall come in the outside
world but again I am a little sad I will miss this place, the people, the
adventure and the freedom and convenience that come with it. I am not sure what
to expect after here because am always told life outside is real and hard.
Well, let’s see how that goes, a step at a time.
Well put. Motivation & Elegance 👌🏾
