Left to right

I look at life from the left to right perspective. From rags to riches, illiteracy to literacy, sadness to joy, young to old, immature to mature etc. Most of us start from the left side characterized by most undesired traits. There is nothing wrong with being on the left side as long as we are moving towards the right side. Growth, everyday growth should be our personal drive.

Moving from one side to the other is never a walk in the park. We just don't wake up and get rich suddenly, it rarely happens. Every good trait takes hard work. Hard work also means not giving up when the going gets tough. You have to fight and keep fighting and remember why you started the fight in the first place. If the reason is worth it and the end product you desire fully, you just have to work a little harder. Moving from left to right is first of all a choice. A choice you have to make everyday. A slight mistake may land you right back to the beginning but if the course is worth it, get up and keep going.

It does not have to necessarily be hard work to get rich or pass exams etc. That is part of it of course but not the whole package. Many a times we work so hard to stop hating, be more gentle, more appreciating, stop judging, be real, forgive, be more responsible etc. Those who have gone through such journeys know what it takes. One more encounter with that one person you decided to forgive and your heart feels like exploding all over again. But you know what the right thing to do is, you know what made you decide to forgive them in the first place and you know most of the time it is for your own good and not for them. That is exactly why you have to keep going to the right, it is never easy it will never be but the end product is worth it.

Truth is there is so much joy and peace on the right side. What a joy it is to know your kids school fees is paid, there is food on the table, you can go for a vacation, you can even help a neighbor etc. Those are the fruits of hard work. Similarly it is so much joy to know your heart is free, your sins are forgiven because you forgave others in the first place, your intentions are pure because you worked so hard everyday to move from the left to the right. When you finally get to the right side of it all, whatever it is, do not despise or forget those you left on the left side. There are people still struggling on that other side and you could be their hope. Always remember though, if you can't help them at least do not hurt them.

This article is dedicated to those people who have in one way or the other felt or taken part in any form of oppression. Oppression could be emotional, by deeds, words said or any other actions that made you or the other person feel rejected, disliked, mistreated, unfairly judged etc. We both can move from left to right. You can either forgive if you are the victim or change the way you treat people if you are the subject. For both people the right side is worth the hard work.

A final note to take home, why would a normal human being find joy in making other people sad? Why would you want to make someone frown or cry instead of making them smile? The evil in humanity always wants to win but don't allow this evil to prevail through you. Be the agent of happiness and peace. Make people happy not sad, make others love life not hate it, make people feel appreciated not rejected. It starts with you. Have a fruitful month ahead.
