There is always something nice from a bad day

So yesterday i happened to wake up late and those lost minutes dragged themselves throughout the whole day. I woke up late, got to the bus station late, found no matatus, crazy lines of people, hiked up fare, eventually got into an old matatu which got spoilt before my destination. I walked almost halfway my distance making it to work an hour late.
Being a never giving up kind of person i tried to catch up on the lost time by extending my stay at work. This wasnt a very brilliant idea. Going back home was twice as difficult as getting to work in the morning.  I stood at the bus stop for a whole hour with no matatus showing up. The traffic was crazy all public vehicles seemed to have dissappeared to alternative roads. After an hour of being hopeful, a lady who i later knew as Barbra suggeested we try our luck at the next stage. We walked to the next stage and the next and the next, with no hopes.
By the time we got to the third/fourth stage it was already dark outside, about 7 or 7.30pm thereabout and still no matatus to take us home. Somebody had to do something. Barbra came up with the idea of getting a taxi. Brilliant idea as long as you dont think of how much that would cost us considering this was the leafy Lavington area. Suprisingly she offered to pay the whole amount, just like that! This is Kenya we dont oftently meet such generous people by the road side or worse still at the bus station. Anyway, we took a taxi, got to know each better along the way and got home safely.
It dint end there for me. The rest of the night was equally crazy with so much to do ranging from laundry, cooking, things that had to be done single handedly before the day ends. By the time i was getting into bed i had a headache, back ache and swollen eyes from 3 hours sleep the previous night. Finally Monday was over for me. I couldnt help but think of a mother who doubles as a career woman with probably four not so mature kids and not so much income to get a house help, what they have to go through every single day to keeps things in order... i SALUTE YOU MUMS.
Despite my day i met a lovely new friend. Thanks Barbra for the warm spirit and lovely stories. Every cloud has a silver lining.
